AAC organises Seerat conference, calls for release of Mirwaiz

Srinagar: In connection with the blessed month of Rabi-ul-Awal which marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) organised a Seerat conference at its head office, the historic Mirwaiz Manzil, Srinagar.
In statement issued here it said that the AAC President Mirwaiz Umar Farooq due his continuous house detention since August 5, 2019, could not preside over the conference which was therefore chaired by senior Hurriyat Conference leader Professor Abdul Gani Bhat.
The eminent scholars, leaders and intellectuals who addressed the conference included Moulana Showkat Hussain Keing, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Moulana Masroor Abbaas Ansari, Dr. Syed Sameer Siddiqui, Ghulam Hassan Ghamgeen, Engineer Muhammad Afaq Chishti, Shabbir Ahmad Mir, Shafaat Ahmed Wafai ,Engineer Hilal War and Moulana M S Rehman Shams. The speakers shed a detailed light on the biography of Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH) and the radiant aspects of his life.
On the occasion, the speakers expressed serious concern over the continued illegal and arbitrary detention of Hurriyat Chairman and Head of the Awami Action Committee Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and demanded immediate release of all imprisoned political leaders including the Mirwaiz. They said the detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir is extremely painful and disturbing for all sections of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The speakers said that anti-people measures being taken by the government after August 5, 2019 and the manner in which all basic, human, political democratic and even religious rights of people are being undermined by force is a matter of great concern and reprehensible. The speakers said in clear terms that problems cannot be resolved by force and repression -such manner only aggravates and complicates it ,but by engagement for its resolution.
Similarly the long-standing dispute of Kashmir needs peaceful dialogue between all parties and not confrontation.
The speakers said that post August 5, 2019, for the first time we address the nation from the historic Mirwaiz Manzil that has been the centre of ideology based political thought and witness to all political ups and downs of this land.
Urging the people of Kashmir to keep their resolve and morale high, the speakers said that the leadership of the Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee and before it the Muslim Conference, has selflessly and boldly represented the sentiments and feelings of the people of J&K and stood up to guide them at every important and critical stage , and will continue to do so.
At the end of the conference, on the anniversary of the 1947 martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir, a great tribute was paid to them and prayers were offered for the elevation of their status in Jannah.
