Painting Competition on Education for Empowerment held at IUST

Awantipora. A Painting Competition on the theme ‘Education for Empowerment’ was organized today at IUST under the aegis of Dean of Students, and coordinated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

This forms a part of the series of initiatives planned at IUST for the widespread dissemination of information about the significance of India’s G20 Presidency. In the event around fifty students and scholars participated and the winners were felicitated with cash awards and certificates.

While addressing the felicitation ceremony, Prof. Shakil A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST stressed the fact that the pursuit of education helps in building a progressive, just, and equitable society. He said that education uplifts societies and events like today’s are organized to sensitize the youth about the importance of education and imbue among them a sense of responsibility toward nation-building and realizing inclusive, holistic, and sustainable development.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Owais Gulzar (Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering) and attended by deans and officials of the university including Dean Academic Affairs, Dean of Students, and Librarian.
