Radical Cholecystectomy done for cancer of gall bladder at Safa Marwa Hospital

SRINAGAR: In a significant achievement, the Safa Marwa Hospital has become a high-volume centre for various general, urological and gynaecological surgeries in Jammu and Kashmir. The centre’s expertise has been further showcased by the successful operation of an elderly female patient from Srinagar’s outskirts, who was diagnosed with cancer of the gall bladder.
Dr. Faroz Khan, a senior surgical gastroenterologist with extensive experience in gastrointestinal malignancies and advanced laparoscopic surgeries, led the medical team that performed the complex surgery. The patient, who was suffering from severe abdominal pain, was thoroughly examined and investigated before being diagnosed with a gall bladder growth.
The medical team, comprising Dr. Faroz Khan, Dr. Masood Rashid (anesthesiologist), and assistants Ajaz, Mohsin, Shakir, Sahil, Iqra, and Muddasir, worked together to perform a radical cholecystectomy, which involved removing the gall bladder along with the liver and lymph nodes. The surgery lasted for approximately three hours, with minimal blood loss of less than 100 mL.
The patient’s recovery was remarkable, with oral intake allowed on the first post-operative day and ambulation initiated immediately. She was discharged on the third day and advised to follow up regularly in the out-patient department (OPD).
The centre’s expertise in general, urological, and gynaecological surgeries has made it a go-to destination for patients seeking quality healthcare in these areas.
