Police solve 2 theft cases in Pulwama

Accused arrested, stolen property worth lakhs recovered

PULWAMA: Police in Pulwama solved two theft cases in Pulwama by arresting accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from their possession.
“On 30/01/2024, Police Station Pulwama received a complaint from Abdul Majeed and Ghulam Rasool Dar, stating there in that unknown thief/thieves under the cover of night entered the apple orchard and stole various items. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 19/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated,” police said in a statement.
During the course of investigation, officers zeroed in on one suspect identified as Arif Hussain Dar son of Abdul Khaliq Dar resident of Chakoora Arigam. During questioning officers learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure the stolen items have been recovered.
Meanwhile, during the course of investigation of another theft case FIR No. 334/2023, one accused identified as Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Ladermad Awantipora was apprehended, leading to the recovery of stolen items related to the said case FIR which includes 06 Samawars and 14 Copper Plates.
“Community members have lauded the efforts of J&K police for solving the cases. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, fostering a collaborative effort for a secure environment,” police said.
