Importance of medical touch: Exploring the vital role of compassionate medical care

It is a fact that doctors are treated next to God because of their ability to protect and save lives. We have a lot of expectations from them. They are the backbone of our society, providing relief from pain, illness, and any health complications when there is an untoward situation happening to our bodies. They are experts in their respective fields and know how to treat patients when any complication arises.
When we go to a hospital for a health-related issue, regardless of the doctor’s quality, if they show genuine feeling and deep concern for us, and if they smile, then we feel okay. But if the doctor shows little human affection, then even though they may be a great expert, we may feel unsure and nervous. This is human nature. It is important that doctors give enough time to patients so that they will be quite satisfied, and all their worries will be relieved.
In today’s world, what we find is that no one has enough time to listen to their fellow men, but in this profession, the more time spent with the patient, the more relieved they will be from their illness. Love and care – this is what patients want from doctors, and they are instantly relieved from their pain and illness if they get this in return.
Undoubtedly, there is a dearth of good doctors in our society, and the responsibility to treat patients lies in the hands of health practitioners, doctors who are new to this field, and also the persons who are directly or indirectly connected with this field. They are doing everything to treat patients well, but the essential “Medical touch” is missing.
Doctors need to touch their patients to create a physical bond between them that is essential to the art of healing. Touch can reduce heart rate and blood pressure, helping patients to feel calmer and less stressed.
Patients have a lot of trust in doctors, and they are quite relieved that their illness will be treated when they take the prescribed medicine. However, if some complication arises, they instantly blame the doctors and the prescribed medicine. Patients should be well aware that doctors are human beings like them. They should not curse the profession that is looking after them when they have given hope for living.
This profession is considered noble among all the professions in our society, but the problem persists here too. There should be an initiative led by all to look at the grassroots level to make it one of the finest sectors in society, and the role of doctors is pivotal in this regard to make it one of the best and most patient-friendly. Treat the patients with kindness, and the doctors will see the results – everyone will like them, and they will be regarded as one of the best in their respective fields.
