Management training on applications of AI&ML begins at SKUAST-K

Sopore: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Wednesday kickstarted a week-long Existing Management Development Programme (E-MDP) on ‘Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI&ML) in Agriculture and Business Management’ at the Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura campus.
The training is organised by the Division of Agricultural Economics & Statistics, Faculty of Agriculture, under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof Raihana Habib Kanth, who inaugurated the training, said the training would expose them to the broader areas and subjects of Statistical Learning and Data Mining across various sectors using hands-on experience and avail the opportunity to grow their career prospects.
Head, IQAC, SKUAST-K and professor of statistics, Dr Shakeel Ahmad Mir emphasized how the availability of several datasets and research techniques opens the gateways for conducting systematic research that is useful for consumers, businesses and organizations.
The coordinator of the training, Dr Showkat Maqbool, highlighted the journey of statistics to data science. He enjoined upon the participants to develop an interest in the subject of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning and Cloud computing to keep pace with the changing times.
Dr Tariq Ahmad Raja, Professor of Statistics, deliberated on the importance of Machine Learning and the Application of Artificial Intelligence in the present scenario. Dr Fehim Jeelani Wani and Dr Farheen Naqash, assistant professors of Agricultural Statistics, presented the welcome address and vote of thanks respectively.
