Recent data from the Ministry of Education underscores this trend, revealing a substantial 68 per cent surge in Indian students opting for higher education abroad in 2022, with the total count reaching 750,365.
Studying abroad can have its challenges, but being emotionally and practically prepared helps one to navigate them with strength, making their journey more enriching and enjoyable. Here are a few steps that will help students have a smooth transition to their study abroad journey.
Arranging accommodation
Arrange accommodation ahead of time, whether on-campus, in student housing, or off-campus. This will ensure a seamless transition upon arrival. Most of the universities and colleges offer accommodation options. However, it is often on a first-come-first basis. Hence it is important to inquire with the education institute and make the requirements.
Book flight tickets on time
Students are advised to book their flights well in advance. This approach not only assists in securing budget-friendly flight choices but also provides sufficient time to become familiar with the new environment. It is recommended to inquire with the institution regarding the availability of airport pickup services, offering a convenient means of transportation to the designated accommodation.
Pre-departure orientation
Make sure to attend any pre-departure orientation sessions offered by the institution for study abroad aspirants, as these sessions provide invaluable insights into various aspects of life abroad, including cultural nuances and academic expectations. These steps will contribute to a well-prepared and confident start to your international education journey.
Financial planning and health insurance
Develop a comprehensive budget encompassing tuition, living costs, health insurance, and unforeseen expenses. Prioritise well-being with thorough health and travel insurance coverage, including emergencies, to ensure a worry-free experience of your study abroad dreams.

When preparing for a study abroad journey, prioritise essential packing items, including climate-appropriate clothing, documents such as passport, acceptance letters, emergency contact, etc. Check with the airlines about luggage policies and restrictions.
