Pigeon racing tournament concludes, Pampore secures first position

Pampore: The enthralling inter-district pigeon racing tournament wrapped up its proceedings in the serene surroundings of the Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Orchestrated by the Khrew Androosa Pigeon Association, the event saw enthusiastic participation from approximately 15 pigeon teams, all fervently competing for supremacy in the flight competition.
Amidst a grand ceremony, the exceptional achievements of the winning and runner-up teams garnered rightful recognition.
The highest honours were bestowed upon the team of pigeons owned by Gulzar Ahmad from Pampore, securing victory by achieving the maximum flight hours. In close pursuit, the pigeon ensemble belonging to Imtiyaz Ahmad of Dadsara Tral secured the runner-up position.
Gulzar Ahmad, the victorious team’s owner, was presented with a substantial cash reward of Rs 35,000, while the runner-up, Imtiyaz Ahmad, received Rs 10,000.
The event transcended the collective accomplishments of the teams, shining a spotlight on individual pigeons of exceptional distinction.
Javaid Ahmad Deva’s pigeon, in particular, attained the esteemed title of “Bahadur Kabotar” for its exceptional individual flight hours, etching its name into the annals of Pulwama’s pigeon racing history.
Mohsin Ahmad, a Kabotar Baaz, divulged that Javid’s remarkable pigeon soared through the skies for an astonishing period of 14 hours and 10 minutes, setting an unparalleled milestone in the realm of Pulwama’s pigeon racing.
The event was organised by Riyaz Ahmad Bhat of Andrusoo, Nazir Ahmad of Khrew and Shabir Ahmad Bhat Androosa, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan of Hajibal.
The tournament in which around 15 teams from different areas of Pampore, Tral, Kakapora and Pulwama are participating is being organised by Pigeon locally known as Kotaarbaaz Khrew Androosa Association, Mohsin Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
The prize distribution programme of the pigeon flying tournament 2023 organised by Khrew-Androosa Pigeon Association was held on Monday.
Several guests and participants were present at the event. The guests distributed cash prizes and awards among the winners and other participants.
