2 drug peddlers arrested in Pampore, 7.25 kg contraband seized: Police

Pampore: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday evening arrested two more drug peddlers and recovered 7.25 Kilograms of grinded cannabis (Fukki) in Saffron town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s police district Awantipora.
Police said a team from police station Pampore arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession during naka checking.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that the police party led by SHO Jazib Mohammad Bhat under the Supervision of Sub Division Police Officer (SDPO) Pampore Krishan Rattan apprehended one person identified as Javid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Befina Pampore along with contraband substance apparently like Fuki of weighing about 2 kg 50 gms.
He said a Case FIR No.106/2023 U/S NDPS Act has been registered and an investigation was taken up, he said.
During the course of investigation of the instant case, the accused disclosed that the seized contraband had been handed over to him by one person identified as Noor Mohammad Nangroo, son Mohammad Anwar Nangroo, a resident of Badi Bagh Pulwama and subsequently the said person was summoned for questioning.
During questioning, the person admitted that he had sold the contraband to the arrested accused and the leftover contraband had been concealed in Drangbal Pampore, which was later recovered. It weighed about 4.750 kg and was subsequently seized.
Moreover, Noor Mohammad Nangroo son of Mohammad Anwar, a resident of Badi Bagh Pulwama was arrested in the instant case.
More arrests are expected in this case, police said, adding that further investigation is going on. “Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law,” it said.
