Khag villagers seek early macadamisation of Gumboora-Hardu Surish road

BUDGAM: People from the various villages of the Khag Tehsil in Budgam demanded the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to complete the macadamisation from Gumboora village to Hardu Surish road as the department has left the portion without macadamisation.
The locals said that they are facing a lot of difficulties on a daily basis as the road from the Grambroo to Hardu Surish has remained un- macadamized again.
Abdul Majeed, one of the local resident from Hardu Surish told the Kashmir Reader that the government have started the macadamization from Khag to Aripathan road in this month July, and they were hopeful that their dilapidated stretch would also be macadimised, but the department only completed the macadamization from Aripathan to Kandama and Naspora to Khag and they were overlooked by the department again.
“Due to the potholes and bumpy roads, the people are facing a lot of trouble and not to talk of pollution that locals have to encounter on a daily basis, “He said.
He added that the people were happy when the R&B department carried out the macadamization upon Aripthan Khag Road, but leaving a few kilometers of road in-macadamized the people have become disappointed.
Mehraj- Din –Mir resident from the Naspora told the Kashmir Reader that the government must take necessary steps to complete the macadamization from Gumboora to Hardu Surish. So, the Khag Aripathan road will be fully macadamized in this year and the general public and transport community will get proper relief through this development work.
“The last time macadamization was carried out was in the year 2013 and in the year 2017 -2018 the road widening was started and now given that works were going, people have been quite surprised why only some kilometers have remained un macadimised.
Mir said that the cab as well as the bus drivers which are running the services to the Khag tehsil are again facing the same problems where the road macadamization has not been completed yet.
The locals said that the Deputy commissioner Budgam and Chief Engineer of the R&B department to look into the matter and completed the macadamization from Gumbroo – Hardu Surish.
Chief Engineer R&B department, Showkat Ahmad told the Kashmir Reader that macadamization work is going on.
