Traffic jams in Baramulla due to lack of parking lots

BARAMULLA: The shortage of parking lots inmain town Baramulla is causing traffic jams on Srinagar-Muzafarabad road. For several years, the shopkeepers, transporters and public have raised this issue, but the administration is not taking serious steps to resolve it.
The people here said that
there is not a single space in
the town for the people to park
their vehicles. They said that
people are being forced to park
their vehicles on road sides on
Srinagar-Muzafarabad national
highway and at other small
markets which is causing the
traffic jams.
“Shopkeepers are parking
their vehicles in front of
their shops in Main Chowk,
Tash Kand Chowk, old hospital
road, Auqaf market, bus
stand, sumo stand, fish market,
park road and at other
places that is causing traffic
jams,” they said.
General Secretary trader’s
federation Baramulla, Er Tariq
Ahmad Magloo said that they
raised this issue with higher authorities
many times, but it was
never resolved.
The people appealed to the
governor’s administration to
look into the matter and resolve
the issue.
