Major crimes that are the main cause of concern include kidnapping, robbery, murder, rape, child abuse, terror and increasing nonsense scary pranks which are common in India. Living has become quite risky, unpleasant and unsafe in India. Women and old people are the worst suffers. Our cites have become the dens of smugglers and criminals.
The capital of India, New Delhi, has earned rare notoriety in this respect. it is not only political capital but also the crime capital of India. Growing unemployment and lack of motivation among the educated young men have drawn many of them to the world of crimes.
A report published by the National Crime Record Bureau 2017, A total of 3,59,849 cases were reported against women in 2017. Uttar Pradesh tops the chart for the most number of crimes with 56,011 cases of crime against women, it is followed by Maharashtra with 31,979 cases and West Bengal at 30,002 cases. Crime is no longer viewed as only one problem for a given society. rather it is an integral part of understanding a nation’s socio, cultural, political and economic situation.
In order to know the solution, first, we have to consciously aware of the reason behind crimes. Crimes mainly occur to satisfy the internal greed, need or uncontrolled emotions due to personal reasons, publicity, revenge, etc.
Ideas to reduce crimes that occur because of:
• Lack of basic needs: these crimes mostly include robbery, murder, etc. providing basic resources to all sections of society in a fair manner will resolve this menace in our society.
• Lack of safety: these crimes cover a minor part of the overall crime rate. A person might commit the crime in order to survive himself/herself from the opponent. Providing or maintaining safety at all times, round the clock to adolescents will reduce this kind of crime rate in India.
• Lack of belongingness/ love: these crimes cover a major part of overall crimes. A person feeling a lack of love might move him/her to take extreme steps. Best way to reduce it is social inclusion, strengthening joint family and the parent-child relationship. Spreading love, empathy and compassion will reduce it. Promoting gender equality is important.
• Lack of prestige: these crimes also cover the major part of crimes that occurs nowadays in India. in order to earn more and more money in illegal ways. These crimes are interrelated with other crimes. Giving respect to every individual and respect to every legal profession regardless of earning of that profession will reduce these kinds of crimes.
According to the Global peace index, India is the fourth most dangerous country for women, the government and people of India really need to introduce stricter punitive laws to curb all crimes in India. And it is clear that a wide range of measures are needed to effectively combat patriarchal crimes against love and against women’s autonomy in India.
Parents, schools, colleges, NGOs, and the government should make strategies to create a safe and crime-free environment in the nation. When every person attains self-actualization (every individual has the potential to achieve anything but some would realize it some may not) there would be no crimes in India.
