Pulwama celebrates Yoga Day with enthusiastic participation

PULWAMA: The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at Hockey Stadium Pulwama on Friday. The grand event saw significant participation from local officials, students, and community members, underscoring the growing interest in yoga for physical and mental well-being.
Prominent attendees included Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama P.D. Nitya, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Zaffar Husson Shawl, District Ayush Officer, and the District Sports Officer. Students from various schools across the district also participated, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
Under the guidance of experienced yoga instructors, participants engaged in a series of yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. The collective effort demonstrated the community’s commitment to adopting healthier lifestyles and highlighted the significance of yoga in fostering overall well-being.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr. Basharat Qayoom addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of integrating yoga into daily routines to combat the challenges of modern sedentary lifestyles. “Yoga is not just a form of exercise but a way of life that promotes physical, mental, and emotional health,” he said. Dr. Qayoom also noted the special connection of the event with the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who virtually joined all districts for the celebration. Despite the rain, the organizers ensured a smooth and enjoyable event.
Dr. Qayoom expressed his gratitude to the Ayush Department, Youth Services and Sports, and the Education Department for their efforts in promoting yoga among the youth and integrating it into their daily routines. He highlighted that the Ayush Department regularly holds yoga sessions at their centers, encouraging people to incorporate yoga into their lives for better health and wellness. “Our lifestyle has become increasingly sedentary, making it essential to include yoga in our daily activities,” Dr. Qayoom added.
Meanwhile, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Pampore also celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm on Friday, under the supervision of Chairman TLSC Pampore, Touseef Ahmad Magrey. The event took place at the JMIC Court Complex Pampore, with enthusiastic participation from staff members, para-legal volunteers, and Bar President Dr. Arif Hussain Masoodi. Aqib Amin Wani from Youth Sports served as the instructor for the day, promoting physical and mental well-being through the practice of yoga.
