Police book 3 notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Bla

Baramulla: Acting tough against drug smugglers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police booked three most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
The most wanted and notorious drug smugglers namely Suhail Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Hassan, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad both residents of Solinda Khaipora Tangmarg & Waseem Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Watalpora Tangmarg have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu, police said in a statement.
It is pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Tangmarg areas & other areas of the District. Despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. Baramulla Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Baramulla police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
Meanwhile, continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Chandoosa headed by SHO PS Chandoosa at a checkpoint established at Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa, intercepted 02 suspicious persons. During search, 60 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They were identified as Sakib Rashid son of Abdul Rashid resident of Kanispora & Zeeshan Ali son of Ali Mohammad Malik resident of Delina Baramulla. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Chandoosa where they remained in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chandoosa & investigations has been initiated.
