G20: 350 students perform yoga in BOMIS Pampore

Yoga makes students physically, mentally, spiritually strong: ZPEO

PAMPORE: The youth Services and Sports Department organised a one-day yoga event at Birla Open Minds International School Pampore on Tuesday in which 300-350 students from various government and private educational institutions of Pampore Zone participated.
Administrative Head BOMIS Pampore Insha Gull was the chief guest while Spectrum Advertising Agency Chairman Haji Abdul Rashid Bhat was the guest of honour of the grand event. ZPEO Pampore Masrat Hussain Andrabi and other officials were present on the occasion.
The competition was aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being among school children and creating awareness about the benefits of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
While throwing light on the physical and mental benefits of yoga, the speakers stated that yoga helps teenagers improve their physical fitness and offers incredible benefits to teenagers as they grow, including improved posture and spine health, flexibility, balance, strength and coordination.
Highlighting the importance of the forthcoming G20 event, the speakers hoped that the students and people, in general, would gather the basic information pertaining to this important event as it is the first-ever G20 summit to be held in India as well as in South Asia.
Speaking on the occasion, Insha Gull stressed on the importance of yoga and how it can help students deal with stress and anxiety. She congratulated the ZPEO Pampore for their efforts in promoting yoga and healthy living among children.

Talking to Kashmir Reader, Andrabi said that it was a yoga event organised by District Youth Services and Sports Zone Pampore as part of G20. He said students from various government and some leading private schools participated in the event and they performed the yoga very beautifully.
” Around 350 students performed yoga asanas which are related to the soul and the body,” he said, adding that Pampore zone has been chosen as the leading zone for various sports activities by joint director DYSS.
Similar activities will be held in different zones of Pulwama on Wednesday,” he said, adding that yoga inculcates discipline among students besides making them physically, mentally and spiritually strong.
