Casual workers in government departments seek regularization prior to fresh recruitments

SRINAGAR: The casual workers and daily wagers working in different departments on Tuesday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding regularisation of their services before any fresh recruitment in the departments.
These workers from various demanding assembled here inside the premises of Public Health Engineering (PHE) division Kothibagh under the banners of the Jammu and Kashmir Casual labors and Daily wagers forum ,chanting the slogans in favor of their genuine demands
The protesting casual laborers and daily wagers said that they are demanding the regularisation of the services and implementation of the minimum wages across Jammu and Kashmir for all the casual laborers and daily wagers working in different departments.
Sajad Ahmad Parry, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Casual labors and daily forum said that we are nearly 61,000 daily wagers, casual labors, need base workers and other temporary employees who are serving the different departments in the Jammu and Kashmir, but our services have not been regularised yet.
“These temporary employees are also facing the financial crisis in their families as their wages are pending in the different departments. But we are demanding the government for the implementation of the minimum wages act. So, these temporary employees will also get the relief if it will be implemented upon the grounds levels,” He said
Parray said the government has issued the recruitment orders for the various posts in a different department but has not regularised those temporary employees who are serving the department from the last 15 years on meger wages.
The protesting casual laborers and daily wagers have threatened that if the demands will not be fulfilled by the government they will go for the protests along with their family.
