5 Policemen, 2 JK Bank Officials Killed in Militant Attack in Kulgam

Five policemen and two Jammu and Kashmir bank officials were killed in a suspected militant attack in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district after militants attack a JK Bank van near Pombai village on Monday.

The reports said that 7 persons including 5 policemen and 2 bank officials were killed when a miltant fired upon a vehicle of a bank Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday afternoon.

The slain policemen have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar of Bonigam Qazigund , Farooq
Ahmad Bhat of Nehama D . H . Pora , Mohammad Qasim of Awoora Trehgam Kupwara, Muzafar Ahmad of Y . K . Pora Qazigund and Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam of Zakoora Batpora Srinagar.

The two Security Guards of J & K Bank are identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat of Vessu Batpora Kulgam and Muzafar Ahmad Laway of Largoo D. H . Pora Kulgam.

Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen has claimed the responsibility of deadly Kulgam attack in which five police men and two bank employees were reportedly killed.

Burhanuddin, Operational Spokesperson Hizbul Mujhadeen told news agency CNS that the attack was carried out by a special squad of the outfit who besides inflicting casualties also snatched four service rifles from the policemen.

“Operation Field Commander Mehmood Ghaznavi had hailed the militants and decided to reward them. Such attacks will continue in Kashmir Valley,” he said.
