SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing Police Flag Day Week 2024, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a series of events to honor the sacrifices of police martyrs, fostering community spirit and unity.
The week kicked off with a mini-marathon titled “Run for Unity,” which took place in Ganderbal. The event commenced at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan and concluded at Sindh View Environmental Park in Kijipora. The marathon attracted enthusiastic participation from local school students, youth, and police officers, all united in remembrance of fallen heroes. The event was flagged off by DySP DAR DPL Ganderbal, Nazir Ahmad, who praised the spirit displayed by the participants. Cash prizes and appreciation certificates were awarded to the top three finishers, celebrating their achievements.
In a parallel initiative, police authorities in Shopian and Ganderbal recognized the academic accomplishments of the wards of police martyrs. SSP Shopian, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, honored students such as Bisma Mushtaq and Chasfeeda Gull, who excelled academically, achieving degrees from prestigious institutions. These students received certificates, mementos, and cash rewards, while their grievances regarding pending SRO cases were also addressed.
SSP Ganderbal, Wasim Qadri, similarly acknowledged the achievements of local students, awarding cash prizes and certificates to Danish Nazir and Safoora Morifat for their outstanding performances in their 10th class exams. Qadri assured them of ongoing support in their educational pursuits.
The week culminated in a grand finale of the “Martyrs Police Premier League”, a volleyball tournament held at DPL Ganderbal. The final match, played between BHSS Khurhama and BHSS Ganderbal, showcased exceptional sportsmanship, with BHSS Khurhama emerging victorious. Both teams were rewarded with cash prizes, trophies, and certificates, celebrating their dedication and skill.
Additionally, a cultural program in Awantipora recognized the special achievements of children of police martyrs. SSP Ajaz Ahmed Zargar and other police officials distributed appreciation certificates and cash rewards during the event, which featured performances by local school students focused on patriotic themes.
Throughout the week, various sports and cultural events were held to strengthen the bonds of unity and integrity among participants. The police expressed appreciation for all who participated, emphasizing the importance of fostering talent and community spirit in remembrance of their martyrs.
