SRINAGAR: Kaifa Shah has once again showcased her talent by winning a Silver medal at the Moscow Wushu Stars 2024, held in Moscow from February 28 to March 05. Despite facing injuries, Kaifa Shah has demonstrated that determination knows no bounds.
Kaifa’s journey in Wushu began at the age of 7 when she was captivated by the sight of Wushu players practicing at the Indoor Stadium in Srinagar. Thus began her remarkable journey, marked by excellence at the state, national, and now international levels.
Her path in sports has been marked by challenges and triumphs. Participating in her first National Wushu Championship in 2016 at Coimbatore, Kaifa continued to excel with unparalleled training under the guidance of India’s chief coach, Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, and coaches from the Union Territory (UT). From district to national levels, her dedication and hard work propelled her forward.
Kaifa has already achieved what many dream of at her age, with numerous national medals and state-level accomplishments. Despite her sporting commitments, Kaifa maintains a commendable academic record, proving that success in both fields is possible.
Facing setbacks due to injuries sustained during routine practice, Kaifa made a triumphant comeback in 2021, clinching a gold medal at the Wushu Nationals. Her resilience and determination have been unwavering ever since, consistently adding to her medal tally at state and national levels.
Beyond sports, Kaifa actively participates in anti-drug programs, recognizing the role of sports in steering youth away from harmful habits. She attributes her success to the support and encouragement of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, whose efforts have transformed the sports landscape in Jammu and Kashmir under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor.
Acknowledging the crucial role played by her school, Presentation Convent, and her coaches Maqsood Ahmad, Aijaz Ahmad, Rameez Ahmad, and Irfan Ahmad, Kaifa expresses gratitude to her parents for their unwavering support throughout her journey.
