Police Pampore organise Run for Unity to celebrate Police Flag Day Week

Pampore: Police on Wednesday organised a Run for Unity to celebrate Police Flag Day Week 2023 here at Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Police District Awantipora.
About 150 students from different education institutions, youth and members of civil society from Sub Division Police Office Pampore participated in the mega event. Government Degree College Pampore officials also joined the event.
The rally started from the Indian International Saffron Trade Centre (IIKSTC) Dusoo Pampore, which was flagged off by SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan in the presence of SHO Pampore Jazib Mohammad Bhat, SHO Khrew Rehman Tandoli and other Police officers.
After covering a distance of around 5 km, the march concluded at Government Degree College Pampore. SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan along with SHO Pampore Jazib Mohammad Bhat, and SHO Khrew Rehman Tandoli distributed certificates among the participants and special prizes were awarded to the first three winners in each category, police officials told Kashmir Reader.
Furkan Rashid from Khrew got 1st position, Adfar Farooq Lone of Nagander Khrew got 2nd position and Murtaza Nazir of Shar Shali got 3rd position in the Run for Unity event.
Earlier, SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan interacted with the participants, and said, “The event Run for Unity has been organised in honour of police martyrs for remembering their courage, valour and sacrifices they made for the unity and integrity of the nation as well as in protecting the life and property of the people.” SDPO Pampore also congratulated all the winners and participants for taking part in the programme and making it successful.
He urged them to prioritize their studies. He made a heartfelt appeal to the youth, encouraging them to actively participate in national building initiatives while staying away from drugs and other negative activities. He assured students, “We are ready to provide the support needed from the police.”
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Furkan Rashid, who secured the first position in the Run for Unity event organized by the Awantipora police district, shared, “This event, organized by the police, is a positive step, and such events should continue in Police district Awantipora as they are beneficial for the youth. If such events are held, the youth will participate, securing first, second, and third positions.”
He added, “The first position I achieved in today’s Run for Unity organized by the Pampore police is due to the blessings of my parents and the guidance of my PT school teachers.”
He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs, saying they can ruin lives, and encouraged them to participate in such events and engage in sports, emphasising that it’s a great platform for good health.
Meanwhile, In Sub Division Tral, a debate competition organised at Government Degree College Tral in which various students participated in the event.
The theme of the debate Competition was “The Role of Police in Nation Building”. In the competition, the first three winners were awarded a trophy and an appreciation certificate and participation certificates were distributed among all the participants.
On the occasion, Principal GDC Tral, SP DAR, SDPO Tral and SHO Tral besides college administrative officers were present.
“Moreover, as a mark of respect and honour, portraits of martyrs of Police District Awantipora were displayed in the respective Primary Schools from where they received their primary education,” a senior police official said.
