Awantipora: As a part of its Scientific Outreach Initiative, Department of Physics, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organized a public lecture by Prof. Sultana N. Nahar, Atomic Astrophysicist, Department of Astronomy, Ohio State University, USA. She also signed an MoU with the university for initiating a recognition program for teachers and students.
Delivering on the topic “Study of the Space”, Prof. Nahar discussed various spectroscopic techniques used in the study of astronomical objects.She also talked about advanced research ongravitational waves and black holes. The lecture was presided over by Prof. Manzoor A Malik, Dean Academic Affairs, and coordinated byProf. Mohammad Akbar Khuroo, Dean School of Sciences.
Prof, Nahar also meet Prof. Shakil A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST regarding the introduction program at IUST. Under this program, annual appreciation awards will be provided to promote quality research and the best science education. In the initial phase, the recognition program will be started in the departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
