2 drug peddlers arrested in Sopore

Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Nadihal crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01N-5535 with two persons on board. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.5Kgs of charas like substance concealed in a bag form their possession. They have been identified as Muhammad Shafi Shah son of Ali Muhammad resident of Takiya Wagoora Baramulla and Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Nehalpora Pattan. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody. Vehicles used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Panzla and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
