Srinagar: A one day seminar was organised on the topic Bazme-Adab by Department of Urdu, South Campus, University Kashmir. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr Raja Yusuf, a well-known fiction writer.
The seminar began with the recitation of the Quran by Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Raunyal. Director, South Campus, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Khandayformally welcomed the chief guest and distinguished speakers and the audience through zoom link. Dr. Raja Yusuf spoke about the literary significance of Urdu writers and the importance of Urdu language and literature in the sub-continent.
The faculty members of Department of Urdu read papers on various aspects of Urdu literature. Dr. Javaid Iqbal Bhat, Coordinator Department of Urdu spoke on the theme of Abdul Ahad Azads book “Kashmiri Zuban aur Sahayri”.Besides,some papers were also read by some students of Dept. of Urdu.
The seminar underscored the importance of understanding the various genres of Urdu literature from a historical point of view and shed light on the contribution of Urdu writers. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks byDr. Nusrat Ameen, faculty member Department of Urdu.
