JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leadership has expressed grave concern over reports of huge loss of precious lives and property in Poonch and Rajouri districts due to flash floods last night.
In a statement, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, AICC General Secretary & CLP Leader G.A. Mir, Working President Raman Bhalla, Ex-MP Ch. Lal Singh, Former Minister Mula Ram, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed, Ex-Minister Shabir Ahmed Khan, DCC President Poonch Shah Nawaz Choudhary, DCC President Rajouri Ashok Sharma, and Ex-Chairman Legislative Council Jahangir Mir expressed serious concern over the flash flood situation causing huge loss of lives and property.
The Congress leadership urged the Government to take necessary rescue, relief, and rehabilitation measures for the safety and welfare of people. They asked the administration of the respective areas to take precautionary measures in view of the experience of last year’s devastations during heavy rain and floods during this period.
The entire PCC leadership shared the grief of the families of the victims and urged the Government to provide adequate exgratia relief and compensation to the affected families.
Meanwhile, AICC General Secretary In-Charge J&K Affairs Dr. Sayeed Naseer Hussain also expressed deep grief and shock over the loss of precious lives in Poonch and Rajouri. He expressed sympathies with the affected people and asked the Government to take necessary rescue, relief, and rehabilitation measures in the interest of the people. He took stock of the weather situation with PCC leadership and senior party colleagues of the affected area regarding the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation measures and asked the local leadership to remain in touch with the population and the administration at this hour of need and render all possible help and cooperation.
