Pampore residents demand repair of leaking pipe that damaged road

PAMPORE: The residents of Konibal area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed to authorities for plugging leakage in Tangnar water supply pipeline.
The residents alleged that the PHE of Tangnar water scheme took them for granted and didn’t bother to look after the supply lines.
Locals of Konibal told Kashmir Reader that the water supply pipeline from Tangnar water scheme Sempora Panthachowk has suffered leakages at two different locations.
” The pipeline has leakage at two places and water leaking is running on the road,”
Mohammad Afzal, a citizen of the area, told Kashmir Reader, saying the leakage is causing inconvenience to commuters.
” The elderly people find it difficult to walk on the road filled with puddles of water due to this leakage, it causes them immense trouble during evening hours when they have to walk to a nearby mosque to offer prayers,” he said.
He said that school students attending community classes too are irked.
The residents said that they brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities but they didn’t take any action till date.
“We request Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary, Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, concerned executive engineer of PHE Tangnar water supply scheme to look into the matter and take immediate action so that commuters don’t suffer any more,” the residents said.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Tariq Ahmad, Assistant Executive Engineer, of Tangnar water supply scheme Sempora assured to look after the matter.
