2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam and Shopian along with contraband

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddler in Kulgam & Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Behibagh during patrolling near Noonnai Turigam crossing intercepted a person in a suspicious condition who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by alert Police party. He has been identified as Mohammad Altaf Mantoo son of Abdul Gani Mantoo resident of Matibugh Yaripora. During checking, officers were able to recover 10Kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Similarly in Shopian, Police have arrested one drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Koka resident of Shallpora Melhoora Wachi and recovered contraband substances from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigations have been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
