Anti-encroachment drive launched on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Pampore, Lethpora

Pampore: A team of Revenue officials, RAMKAY officials and Police Pampore and Awantipora under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl launched a joint anti- encroachment drive on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
During the drive two shops, walls and dozens illegal structures were demolished on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Galander Pampore and Lethpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The drive was headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl. The officers present on the occasion included Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, RAMKAY Manager Mohammad Maqbool, DSP DAR Awantipora, SHO Pampore Mohammad Younis Khan and other revenue officials, he said.
“Today an organised anti encroachment drive was launched on both sides of National Highway, people were paid compensation for land but despite that they had raised new construction which were evicted in presence of police ,” Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader , warning people to stay away from raising structures along national highway.
” Wherever people raise illegal structures along National highways, they will be razed down, people who have been paid for land along NH don’t have any legal right to use the land for raising new structures,” he said.
The general public particularly residing on highways are requested to remove encroachment by their own otherwise suitable action will be initiated against them and encroachment shall be removed, he said.
