Srinagar: Police in Bandipora have arrested two drug peddlers & recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on specific information, a police party led by SDPO Sumbal and Incharge Police Post Ajas at a checkpoint established at Bazipora Ajas intercepted two individuals. They have been identified as Mubashir Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Rasool lone resident of Lone Mohalla Ajas and Showket Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh resident of Rather Mohalla Ajas. During checking, officers were able to recover a huge quantity of Charas concealed in maize leaves, from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 60/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up. Preliminary investigation reveals that both the arrested accused persons are notorious drug peddlers and were involved in selling drugs to youth of the area.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
