Shopian: District Development Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz Monday inaugurated an awareness camp organized by the Handicrafts Department in which around 400 artisans participated. The DDC, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated highlighted the role of Handicrafts Department in imparting training to the people of rural areas aimed at generating self-employment. He also urged the artisans to avail the benefits of schemes run by the Department. He emphasized upon them to avail artisans’ credit card scheme from the banks to boost their business. He asserted that banks should adopt the beneficiary friendly approach and reiterated the need to finalize the sponsored cases in a time-bound manner.
He said the handicrafts industry of the State has vital importance in the economic development of the State as lakhs of people are directly or indirectly attached to it.
District Lead Bank Officer, besides representatives of RESTI and concerned departments, were also present on the occasion.
