BARAMULLA: As many as 11,000 youths were engaged in 218 sports and youth engagement programmes across the North Kashmir range.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Range said in a post on X that programmes were organised under the supervision of the Range Police Headquarters, Baramulla, and covered sports disciplines including cricket, volleyball, badminton and football.
The initiative aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing drug abuse and encouraging youth participation in nation-building activities, according to the post.
The programmes witnessed participation from boys and girls across various districts of North Kashmir and were part of efforts to strengthen community engagement and keep youth away from social evils, the DIG said.
Similar programmes will continue in the coming months to further deepen police-youth interaction and promote a healthy and drug-free society, the DIG added.
