15th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championship kicks off at Gindun Stadium

SRINAGAR: The 15th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championship commenced on Monday with great enthusiasm at Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh. The championship is being organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council and the J&K Taekwondo Association.

The event has witnessed the participation of over 100 Taekwondo players from across the district, reflecting the growing popularity and competitive spirit of the sport in Srinagar. The championship aims to provide a strong platform for young and emerging athletes to showcase their talent at the district level.

The medalists of the championship will earn the honour of representing District Srinagar in the upcoming 28th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2025–26.

The championship is being chaired by Mr. Nissar Hussain, President, Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar, along with Mr. Suhail Ahmed Khan, Organizing Secretary, who is overseeing the smooth conduct of the event. The referee panel comprises National Referees Mr. Hashim Majeed and Mr. Zain Nazir, along with State Referee Mr. Aqib Muzaffar, ensuring fair and transparent officiating.

Mr. Dilbagh Singh, Manager of Gindun Stadium, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Ms. Kabra Altaf, Khelo India Judo Coach and National Medalist, attended as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged the athletes to pursue excellence in sports with dedication and discipline.

The championship will continue over the scheduled dates with keenly contested bouts across various age and weight categories.
