Police seize huge quantity of crude wine in Budgam, 2 accused arrested

SRINAGAR: Police in Budgam seized a huge quantity of crude wine and arrested two accused persons involved in its production and distribution.
“A Police Party of Police Station Budgam while conducting naka checking at village Nasrullahpora apprehended two persons carrying 01 barrel of crude wine. They were arrested on the spot and subsequently identified as Daneshwar Prasad son of Ramdhar Prasad resident of Sirli District Sakti Chhattisgarh & Lakshman Predas Sahu son of Baba Ram resident of Aril District Sakti Chhattisgarh,” police said in a statement.
During further questioning and subsequent search, 12 more barrels of crude wine approximately 195 litres were recovered from their possession, police said, adding that both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 372/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been set into motion,” the statement said.
Consistent actions of police against the criminals should reassure the community members that police are making all efforts to eradicate social evils from society, police said, adding, “We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.”
