82-year-old patient undergoes successful hip replacement at Well Care Medical Institute

Orthopedic team’s surgery marks milestone in hip & knee replacement program

SRINAGAR: An 82-year-old hypertensive patient has undergone a successful partial left hip replacement at the Well Care Medical Institute, marking a significant achievement for the facility’s orthopedic team. The patient, who had a history of an alleged fall a few days prior, was unable to stand on his own following the trauma.
Upon arrival at the Outpatient Department (OPD), the patient was thoroughly examined, and an X-ray of the hip was conducted, which revealed a fracture of the left femoral neck. Based on these findings, a left hemiarthroplasty was performed by the esteemed orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Tabish Tahir Kirmani, with support from Mr. Akhlaq and Mr. Fazil. The anesthesia team was led by a senior consultant and included anesthesia technician Mr. Danish.
The procedure and the postoperative period were both uneventful, and the patient was discharged just two days after the surgery. Notably, this patient had also undergone a right hemiarthroplasty four years ago, which was also performed by Dr. Tabish. This continuity of care highlights the expertise and consistency of the team at Well Care Medical Institute.
Dr. Masood ul Hassan, Medical Director at Well Care Medical Institute, expressed pride in the facility’s achievements, stating, “We have a comprehensive knee and hip replacement surgery program that has been running for several months. All our patients are recovering well post-surgery and are starting a renewed phase of life.”
Dr. Hassan further emphasized the institute’s commitment to emergency orthopedic surgeries, particularly those resulting from road traffic accidents. “We are actively involved in performing emergency post-traumatic orthopedic surgeries, and many patients have benefited from our services so far,” he added.
