Farmers in Hajin decry insufficient power supply for irrigation

HAJIN: Farmers in Hajin and its adjoining areas in Bandipora have expressed strong resentment about the inadequate power supply to their agricultural fields.
The farmers alleged that they are receiving only six hours of power supply each day, which is insufficient to irrigate their fields.
“Previously, we used to get round-the-clock electricity for six months during the agricultural season. This year, however, they have imposed an unnecessary schedule, causing immense problems for us,” they said.
Manzoor Ahmad, a farmer, said they have to wait for hours to take their turn to irrigate their fields. “Our rice beds have dried up due to lack of water. We urge the department to provide round-the-clock electricity throughout the season,” he added.
Meanwhile, senior Apni Party leader Imtiyaz Parray has expressed strong resentment against the administration for failing to ensure round-the-clock electricity during the agricultural season.
He urged the administration to ensure regular power supply for farmers in Sonawari.
“The absence of power supply leaves farmers in a dire situation, unable to adequately irrigate their fields,” Parray said. He called on the administration to take immediate action to alleviate the distress faced by the farming community in the region.
