AAP says ‘will not quit INDIA bloc under Modi govt’s pressure’

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal Monday skipped the Enforcement Directorate’s summons for the seventh time, in the case related to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. Responding to the summons, AAP said, “the matter is in court, is up for hearing on March 16, instead of sending summons daily, the ED should wait for the court’s decision.”
The party added, “We will not quit the INDIA Alliance no matter how much pressure the Modi government exerts.”
The ED had earlier issued the sixth summons to CM Kejriwal on February 14, asking him to appear on February 19, which he skipped as well. He has not appeared for any questioning so far.
After the ED moved court for skipping the interrogation. Kejriwal participated in the court process through video conferencing on Saturday. He told the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate that he could not appear physically due to a confidence motion moved in the Delhi Assembly as well as the Budget session.
Earlier, too, AAP had hit out at the investigating agency on Thursday, calling the summons “illegal” and “meant to threaten Kejriwal”. “Why can’t the ED wait? It will not wait because the entire matter is made up…it is neither legal nor even an investigation…these summons are just to threaten Kerjiwal and AAP,” said Delhi minister Atishi.
