Four private schools sealed in Pulwama for violating winter vacation guidelines

Pampore: In a decisive move led by Chief Education Officer Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom Nadvi, the Education Department has taken action against four private schools in various Education Zones, including Tral, Pampore, and other areas of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The crackdown comes in response to the schools’ violation of winter vacation guidelines.
Education Department officials informed Kashmir Reader that Zonal Education Officers, along with a monitoring team, conducted surprise raids on private schools in Awantipora, Pampore, and Pulwama. Four schools were found in clear violation of government orders and were promptly sealed. The staff was instructed to halt the practice immediately, while other schools were warned, and their keys were handed over to senior citizens to ensure compliance. Education officers have expressed zero tolerance for violations and pledged to continue conducting raids in the future.
CEO Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom Nadvi, had earlier issued a clear directive, warning that schools violating winter vacation orders would face strict consequences. The sealing of four private schools underscores the department’s commitment to enforcing guidelines and maintaining discipline within the education system.
This proactive approach aims to ensure that educational institutions adhere to established rules and regulations, especially during designated vacation periods. The Chief Education Officer’s firm order emphasizes that strict actions will be taken against schools that do not comply with winter vacation directives, reflecting the department’s dedication to upholding educational standards.
Speaking exclusively to Kashmir Reader, CEO Nadvi stated that three to four private schools were sealed, and for those with complaints against them, the department has counseled them. He emphasized that such issues should not recur in the future. He added that three to four schools were locked down, and warnings were issued to two to three other schools. An explanation has been sought from one school, and he believes this action is sufficient. He reiterated the notice for the entire district a few days ago.
The CEO mentioned issuing two to three orders as winter vacations are underway. Some schools are violating regulations, possibly unaware initially, and have now been alerted to the violations. He issued a warning to them for the third time regarding field violations. Schools engaging in repeated violations will face registration cancellation. However, for those facing such issues for the first time, the aim is to engage in understanding dialogue.
Instances were found in some private schools where a few students and teachers were involved. The monitoring team promptly locked down those schools, and vigilant observation of all schools throughout the field continues.
Nadvi clarified that such cases are not widespread in the district, primarily involving a few private schools violating regulations. The intention is to educate children, and they should understand that one of the rights children have is the right to enjoy winter vacation in a warm place. Children have been granted leave to stay at home during this season.
While violations will not be tolerated, the government calendar applies to all educational institutions, including both private and government schools, where winter vacations are mandated. If someone is teaching at home, there is no objection, but using school institutions to conduct classes constitutes a violation.
Abdul Qayoom emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline in the education system and following the government calendar. Departments should issue letters and ensure the implementation of necessary measures in schools.
Nadvi’s message to children is not to be misled by someone telling them to come to school with promises of personal teaching. If studying at home is more convenient, they should do so. Going to school during holidays for tests should not happen, and maintaining discipline in the education system is crucial.
