Old wooden electricity poles pose threat to Syed Mohalla Hajin residents

Hajin: Residents of Syed Mohalla in Hajin town of Bandipora district have urged the district administration to address the looming safety threat posed by old wooden electricity poles in their area.
The residents have taken the initiative to use chopped trees as makeshift electricity poles to facilitate power supply in the region. Despite timely payment of electricity bills, their appeals to the concerned department for the replacement of these makeshift poles with durable iron ones have fallen on deaf ears.
Expressing their concerns, locals emphasized that the existing wooden poles, erected some time ago, have not been replaced, demonstrating a lack of concern from Power Development Department (PDD) officials regarding the safety of the community. The residents are troubled by the severe decay of these poles, making them vulnerable to snowfall and high winds. This decay raises fears of potential accidents or damage occurring at any moment.
Mohammad Ashraf, a concerned resident, lamented the apparent indifference of authorities to the urgent need for replacing these hazardous poles. He expressed uncertainty about when the authorities would take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the residents in the face of this impending danger.
The residents have appealed to the district administration to intervene promptly, replacing the deteriorating wooden poles with sturdier and safer iron alternatives to avert any potential mishaps in the future.
