Congress will reclaim J&K’s Statehood in a month if voted to power: JKPCC Chief

Pampore: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani on Saturday said the party will reclaim the Statehood within a short period of “one month or even a week” if voted to power.
The Congress party conducted a one-day worker’s convention at Town Hall Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday. The event witnessed the presence of prominent leaders, including the party’s Vice President Mohammad Anwar Bhat, Shameema Raina, Arfat Khan, and several other party members, with around 300 workers in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Vikar expressed deep concern over the challenges facing the people of Jammu and Kashmir, such as inflation, unemployment, and various forms of “injustice”. He outlined the Congress party’s commitment to addressing these issues if it comes to power, with a focus on providing employment for unemployed youth, reducing electricity tariffs, waiving electricity bill arrears, and implementing various initiatives for the welfare of the people.
The JKPCC chief urged the participants to work towards the success of the Congress party, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts for the overall improvement of the region.
Speaking about the significance of Pampore, known as Saffron Town, the Congress leader praised the global reputation of saffron cultivated in the area. He highlighted the rich cultural and historical legacy of Pampore, mentioning eminent figures like Wahab Khaar Sahab, Habba Khatoon Sahiba, and others, whose legacies continue to thrive and attract visitors from around the world.
Addressing the media, Vikar Rasool discussed the party’s plans if it comes to power, including reclaiming the state within a short period, providing government jobs, waiving electricity bills for BPL individuals, forgiving KCC loans, addressing issues related to smart meters and property tax, and returning land taken from the poor. He reiterated the party’s commitment to resolving electricity sector problems and demanded the removal of smart meters, citing concerns about increased bills.
Rasool also explained the Congress party’s internal processes for candidate selection, emphasizing the importance of public sentiment in decision-making. He urged the public to trust the Congress party, emphasizing the party’s systematic approach to elections and encouraging voters to support the Congress for a successful future. The convention concluded with a call to action for party workers to actively contribute to the success of the Congress party in the upcoming elections.
