Eminent physicist Prof. Sukalyan Chattopadhyay delivers lecture at IUST

Awantipora: Department of Physics at the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Kashmir (IUST) organized a lecture by eminent physicist Prof. Sukalyan Chattopadhyay from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata. The lecture, titled “Shapes and Symmetries in Atomic Nuclei,” delved into the evolution and enhancements of the Nilsson model of atomic nuclei, specifically focusing on how it successfully accommodates newer experimental discoveries in nuclear high spin spectroscopy.
The lecture was presided over by Prof Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Dean Academic Affairs and was attended by Prof. Shaikh Javid Ahmad, faculty from the Department of Physics and scholars and students. The programme was coordinated by Dr Niyaz Ahmad Rather, Head Department of Physics, IUST.
The lecture was aimed to expose the scholars and students to the complexities within atomic nuclei and their symmetrical properties and encourage them towards cutting-edge research and intellectual exploration in the field of nuclear structure physics.
