Three-day workshop on personality development concludes at GDC Pampore

PAMPORE: The three-day long workshop on the Personality Development Programme organised by the Government Degree College Pampore’s Career Counseling Cell in collaboration with Fallah Behbood Committee of Pampore, concluded here on Thursday.
The three-day programme was organised by Mir Murawat Hussain from June 13 to 15, GDC officials told Kashmir Reader, adding that the workshop was attended by a large section of the college students ranging from second semester to final semester besides a good number of faculty members.
The workshop was organized keeping in consideration the present challenging demands of various professions and to sensitising the students that every career option has something good to offer. It is not only a doctor, engineer or teacher who lives a dignified life but there is a wide range of avenues or career options that are certainly lucrative.
The workshop ran through days during which 11 technical sessions were held. The successful resource persons from different walks of life were invited to speak on their respective specialisations and a very robust and comprehensive range of choices and opportunities were discussed and deliberated on during these technical sessions.
On Tuesday, Dr Monisa Qadiri, Senior Assistant Professor in Media and Journalism at IUST, Awantipora spoke on “Career in Media and Communication” followed by Warir Murawat’s talk on “Career Prospects after MBA” various employment avenues in the business sphere were deliberated upon. In the meantime, the students were given an inkling towards setting up their own little business ventures. BMO Pampore Dr Asima Asma Nazir deliberated on the “Career in Medical Sciences”, the importance of the medical profession and the various allied occupations associated with it were thoroughly discussed.
The first day was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Iqbal Malik who heads the Department of Islamic Studies, GDC Pampore. Irfan Shah, the Coordinator of the programme was also present on the occasion.
On Wednesday, three technical sessions were held Danish Gul, a volleyball player from Jammu and Kashmir representing the National Volleyball team spoke on the theme “sports as a career”.
This session was followed by the staff interaction and some of the crucial issues and points that surfaced during the interaction were highlighted and deliberated on Dr. Muneer also highlighted the importance of sportsmanship. He reiterated the need to be physically and mentally fit for which sports can offer you the best platform.
In the second technical session, Nishwan Rasool who works with India Today deliberated at length about a career in journalism.
On the closing day, Dr G M Bhat, Ex-Chancellor of Jammu University discussed the career in the field of education, he emphasized character building for future excellence in education.
Adnan Shah’s talked on startup and business management. Being a young and successful businessman, he explained the prospects and avenues available for youth in Kashmir to start up their own business and work independently and freely,
The presidential and concluding remarks were presented by GDC Principal, Prof Dr Huda Galzai and she highlighted the need and importance of conducting these seminars and workshops for the larger benefit of the students community. With the felicitation ceremony and vote of thanks by Dr. Iqbal Malik, the programme was concluded.
