HAJIN: Municipal Committee Hajin celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm on Monday. President MC Hajin Irshad Ahmad Wani was the chief guest while ZEO Hajin Mohammad Akbar Wani and Professor GDC Hajin Abdul Qayoom were the guests of honour.
The students of the several institutes including the NSS unit of GDC Hajin performed several programs related to environmental issues. They showcased their skills and demonstrated the present-day scenario besides suggesting steps to preserve the earth.
Various employees of MC Hajin also participated in the function which was presided over by Chairman MC Hajin. The event focused on a very critical issue being faced in every corner of the town regarding how to save our environment.
Irshad Ahmad Wani stressed upon the role of students in the conservation of the environment on scientific lines keeping in view the current environmental issues and concerns. He focused on aware students of the need for a clean and green environment.
Besides the student debaters, Prof. Abdul Qayoom Mir of GDC Hajin , ZEO Hajin Mohammad Akbar Wani, Executive Officer Hajin Firdous Ahmad also presented their views during the event.
Later, a plantation drive was also held in the premises of MC Hajin. A prize distribution ceremony was also held in which winners were given appreciation certificates.
