Civil Engineer from Awantipora sets up his own business, says employing others gives satisfaction

AWANTIPORA: A civil Engineer from the Jawbehara area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has turned into an entrepreneur by setting up his own business.
Javid Ahmad Khan, a resident of Jawbehara, who has M Tech in civil engineering, has set up a manufacturing unit for different cement products including hollow blocks, bricks and tiles. His business unit is generating employment for around 25 people in the area and as such he is serving as an inspiration for other youth who run after government jobs.
Javid Ahmad Khan told Kashmir Reader that business offers a lot of opportunities and the government is also supporting new start-ups so youth should come forward and invest in small start-ups to generate employment for themselves and others.
“I completed M tech in 2013 and was looking for a government job but as you know competition is very high for government jobs,” Javid Ahmad Khan said, adding that he worked in the private sector for some time and ultimately he came to the conclusion that he should start his own business unit.
He started a manufacturing unit for making hollow blocks, bricks, tiles and other related items.
“I provide employment to around 25 people which gives satisfaction to me,” he said, adding that he feels happy to have established his own business and serve as an inspiration for others.
He said the business offers a person a lot of expertise and the youth of Kashmir should stop relying on government jobs and create employment opportunities for themselves for starting small business setups. He said that government departments have always been supportive of them.
