Srinagar: A Mehfil-e-Mushaira was organized in GDC Sumbal on Thursday.
The event was organised by Literary Club, in which a number of poets including some student and faculty members participated and mesmerized the audience by their poetic innovations.
Principal GDC Sumbal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, was Chief Guest of this occasion.
The other important dignitaries who graced the event by their presence include the Staff Secretary, Dr. Mehraj Hajni, HOD Commerce–Prof. Bashir Ahmad Khan, HOD Chemistry–Prof. Majida Maqbool, HOD–Economics, Prof. Riyaz Ahmad Kuchay, HOD–Urdu, Prof. Mohamad Iqbal Rather, HOD–Zoology, Dr. Feroze Ahmad Dar, HOD Clinical Biochemistry–Dr. Syed Shafia Aalam, HOD–Education, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Parey, HOD–Botany, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Lone and many other senior and junior faculty members and students of the college.
Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, while presenting her keynote address, deliberated on the significance of the programme.
She highlighted that the ultimate purpose of this event is to provide an ample opportunity to our budding poets to explore their hidden talent and also strengthen their capabilities by learning from the prominent poets of our society.
She also reiterated that such type of more and more programmes would be conducted in the college in near future as well.
She said that through this medium our students can express themselves more appropriately as poetry is a God given talent and such people are lucky enough who are well versed with this valuable Art.
The poets who made contributions during the occasion include Dr. Mehraj Hajni, Prof. Riyaz Ahmad Kuchay, Prof.
Mohamad Iqbal Rather, Mir Muzamil, Ubaid Akram, Taufeeq Yousuf, Aadil Manzoor, Faizan Farooq, Mohammad Ibrahim, etc.
The proceedings of the event were carried out Dr. Riffat Basharat and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Lone.
