Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Khrew Pampore

PAMPORE: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic substances from their possession at Khrew area of Pampore in police district Awantipora, officials said.

Acting on specific input, a police party Khrew led by SHO Khrew Manzoor Ahmad established a checkpoint near SICOP Wuyan area of Pampore, during which two drug peddlers, identified as Umer Riyaz Ganaie @ Jan Watlab son of Riyaz Ahmad and Umer Noor @ Umer Gola son of Noor Mohammad Bhat both residents of Wuyan were arrested.
During the checking, the duo were found to be carrying a contraband, suspected to be heroin about 20 grams, SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
The duo shifted to the police station Khrew where they remain in custody, he said,
A case FIR number 42/ 2022 under relevant sections of law registered at police station Khrew and further investigation started.
Community members are already requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
