Sanitation measures along Yatra route reviewed

Ganderbal: The Director Rural Sanitation, Charan Deep Singh undertook a visit to Baltal and inspected the sanitation measures being carried along the Srinagar leh National highway and Baltal in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District.
On the occasion, the Director also inspected the progress on various sanitation works that are being executed to make this years Yatra clean and pollution free.
The Director also review of work undertaken by the department towards the augmentation and complimenting the infrastructure to desired levels of facilitation of the pilgrims during Yatra to the holy cave.
The Director had a long discussion with District Panchayat Officer Ganderbal, Bilqees Wani and various Block Development Officers Including Sheikh Arif BDO Kangan, Gund of district.
The Director laid stress on setting up of structures for scientific management of garbage being generated in rural areas especially in panchayats falling along National Highway.
Later, the Director visited Baltal Base Camp where the Rural Development department is providing 21 stationary and 700 movable toilets for Shri Amarnath Ji yatra.
The Director directed the DPO to chalkout the plan for placing movable toilet at appropriate locations as per need.
