NC deplores inordinate delay in completion of Bemina Children/Maternity hospital

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday expressed concern over the delay in completion of construction work of Children/Maternity Hospital at Bemina, asking the administration to make the tertiary maternity and childcare facility fully functional.
Slated to be completed by 2015, the Bemina tertiary maternity and childcare hospital, Party Central Secretary Irfan Ahmed Shah said was conceived and commissioned by Omar Abdullah and expected to share load of maternity services at LD Hospital but the said facility, he rued, has been mired by inordinate delays.
“It was then the NC led government that had earmarked Rs 50 Cr for the project under a centrally sponsored scheme. However ,the work on the said project has been put into the cold storage by successive regimes since. The proposed facility was slated to act as an alternative tertiary care facility for women of north and central Kashmir,” he said.
Similarly, there has been no upgradation of PHCs, TB centers, and other secondary healthcare centres across Srinagar and the situation in Batamaloo constituency is no different.
