Faculty of Agriculture SKUAST Wadura, bids farewell to Dean Prof. A. H. Hakeem

Srinagar: A farewell ceremony was organized in honour of Worthy Dean, Prof. A.H. Hakeem, who completes his tenure at the end of this week.
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, all heads of divisions and faculty members were present on the occasion. Prof. Mohammad Anwar Bhat, Head, Division of Agronomy. In his address he told that constant guidance, encouragement, and motivational guidance of Prof Hakeem for the students and teachers led to the development of faculty. Prof. Hakeem in his speech, described Prof. Nazir Ahmad as a renowned academician and researcher, good administrator who has contributed a lot to the university as a PI of World Bank Funded NAHEP. Prof. Hakeem at his farewell speech reminiscing his journey told that he was privileged & felt immensely grateful for this incredible journey. The challenges together with the responsibilities have been equally enriching. He also thanked the faculty, non teaching staff, students and all well wishers for being a part of his professional journey. The Hon’ble Vice chancellor in his address re-iterated the crucial importance of the role to be played by SKUAST-K in advancing the goals of nation building. He stressed upon the major concerns related to increase in the income and quality of life of farming community by laying emphasis on food security to nutritional & economic security.
He impressed upon the scientists to mitigate various issues raised by the farmers on priority and desired that a mechanism should be put in place for hassle free and smooth transfer of technologies developed by SKUAST-K to all the stakeholders. He appreciated Prof. Hakeem’s contribution in developing FoA as a fast emerging frontline Faculty and wished him good health and prosperity after retirement from the active service. He also described Prof. Hakeem as most humble, honest, very passionate personality and one of the best social scientist. The programme ended with vote of thanks from Prof. Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, Prof., GPB to the participants.
