Srinagar: Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Kanipora Shopian intercepted two persons identified as Waseem Ahmad Bati son of Talib Hussain Bati and Muzamil Ahmad Janjua son of Mohammad Amin Janjua both residents of Saaj Thanamandi Rajouri. During checking, officers were able to recover 10Kgs of poppy straw from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 280/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers & cultivation of the contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling or cultivation will be dealt as per law.
