Protest against the unscheduled power cuts in Handwara

HANDWARA: The people in large on Tuesday staged a protest against the unscheduled power cuts in north Kashmir’s Handwara town.
An Eyewitness said that a large number of people, mostly traders and members of the municipal committee, jointly assembled at main market Handwara and staged a protest against the power development department (PDD) over the unscheduled power cuts in town and its surrounding areas.
Protesters were seen shouting slogans against the department.
On the occasion chairman municipal committee Handwara Masroor Ahmad Banday and president traders federation Handwara Aijaz Ahmad Sofi said that people living in Handwara are suffering badly from the past several weeks and despite several complaints the department did not pay any attention towards the people. They threatened that if the department did not solve their problem they will again hit the roads and the concerned department will be responsible.
