GANDERBAL: Police in Ganderbal have foiled a smuggling bid and seized about 11 quintals of medicinal plants from a godown in Kangan area. Besides, five persons involved in the commission of crime were arrested.
Acting on credible inputs about dumping of huge consignment of medicinal plants in a godown located in main town Kangan, a team headed by SHO Police Station Kangan under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Yasir Qadri-JKPS was constituted on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar- IPS. The team raided the godown and recovered huge consignment of forest produce containing medicinal plants weighing about 1102 kilograms.
The raiding team were also able to arrest 05 accused persons identified as Mohammad Aslam Kataria S/O Sawaria Kataria, Showkat Ahmad Badana S/O Bashir Ahmad Badana, Mohammad Ishfaq Khatana S/O Ghulam Nabi Khatana, residents of Chattergul, Javaid Ahmad Wani S/O Mohammad Yousuf Wani R/O Kangan and Ghulam Nabi Khatana S/O Mehendia Khatana R/O Godhad Rajouri.
In this regard a case vide FIR No. 111/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kangan and further investigation has been taken up.
